7 new biomethane buses introduced

The 7 Iveco Crossways will allow a CO2 reduction of almost 90%

Arriva Veneto introduced 7 new biomethane fueled buses

On 27 April, Arriva Veneto presented 7 new biomethane buses at Campo Cannoni in Sottomarina. The vehicles will soon enter service in the suburban fleet and will connect Chioggia with Venice, Mestre and the Marco Polo airport.

The new vehicles, 7 IVECO Crossway Line 12m, were financed at 90% by the Veneto Region and the rest by Arriva Veneto; these are the first vehicles in the region to perform extra-urban services and be equipped with this type of fuel.

The vehicles, with zero impact and zero polluting emissions, were presented at the presence of the mayor of Chioggia Mauro Armelao; the event was also attended by some classes of the Valli di Chioggia Middle School, about thirty students who, due to the preparation of an entire bus with educational material, learned what biomethane is and what makes it green and sustainable compared to to other types of fuel.

Biomethane – both compressed and liquefied – allows an overall reduction in CO2 emissions that can range from 80% up to 180% compared to traditional fuels. Therefore, biomethane allows not only to cancel CO2 emissions, but also allows to intercept methane gas before its dispersion into the atmosphere and, therefore, to effectively reduce the greenhouse effect.

Up to 180% less CO2 emissions

Biomethane allows not only to cancel CO2 emissions, but also allows the gas to be intercepted before its dispersion into the atmosphere and to effectively reduce the greenhouse effect.

First extra-urban biomethane fueled vehicles in Veneto

The German energy agency DENA has estimated that the emissions of a vehicle powered 100% with biomethane are equal to those produced by an electric vehicle powered 100% with wind energy

Reduction of noise pollution

Natural gas mobility almost completely eliminates particulate and NOx emissions, and reduces noise pollution (up to -3dB). By using biomethane, CO2 emissions can be reduced by more than 95%.
