Getting Around Trieste: Public Transport Between Sustainability and Digital Transition

An initiative by Trieste Trasporti in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste (Department of Territorial Policies) — Friday, September 19th, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia.

Trieste Trasporti brings the new electric bus to the square and showcases the digital services that are transforming mobility in the city: from optical ticket validation and onboard purchases, the Trieste Tram Tour, and on-demand services, to the new app of the regional MaaS FVG project — glimble by Arriva — which integrates buses, trains, bike sharing, ferries, and parking into a single digital platform.

Regardless of the country we operate in, whether we work in a depot or an office, or drive a bus or a train, at Arriva we are all united by a single purpose:

Connecting people and communities safely, reliably, and sustainably, delivering better services every day.

Corporate mobility goes green

For Arriva Italia, offering passengers a sustainable mobility service is certainly fundamental, but it is equally important to study how its employees commute to work.

Committed to reporting its environmental impact, Arriva actively encourages actions aimed at reducing its emissions, while promoting a corporate culture that makes sustainability a shared goal.

Arriva Italia also participates, as in previous years, in the competition organized by the Municipality of Brescia, “Come to Work Without a Car”, whose regulations can be viewed at the following link:

Mobility for EVERYONE

Mobility for All” means ensuring that everyone can access sustainable transport, regardless of income, location, gender, or ability. Many people face challenges such as high costs or a lack of transport options, which limit their access to work, education, and essential services — this is known as transport poverty.

In 2025, European Mobility Week invites us to imagine and build a society where transport services are available, accessible, affordable, inclusive, and safe, ensuring that public transport, walking, and cycling are fair options for everyone.

Since over 70% of Europeans live in urban areas, it’s clear that public space is limited in many cities. An environment where people, transport, and activities all have enough space promotes social equity, increases road safety, reduces air pollution, and improves quality of life. Therefore, the shared use of public space brings numerous benefits to society.
