Arriva Italia provided a bus and three drivers for the transport of refugees from Poland

As part of the Connecting Peace project, Arriva Italia made available one of its private hire buses and three drivers to the Refugees Welcome Italia association. The bus, carrying the volunteers of the association and basic necessities for the refugees, departed on Thursday 17 March from Milan, directed to Poland.

The journey, for a total of three thousand kilometers traveled, lasted more than 16 hours: the itinerary involved the crossing of Austria and Czech Republic to arrive in Leszcze, a Polish city near the border with Ukraine, on friday 18 March.

The persons in charge of Refugees Welcome Italia and of the Civil Protection took care of the boarding of 32 woman and children refugees and, once the operations has been completed, the bus departed back to Milan. Ukrainian refugees will find welcoming facilities and all the support they need in the city.

The trip ended successfully, with the refugees arrival in Milan on Saturday 20 March morning.

The Connecting Peace project aims to allow the transport, welcome and hospitality of all those fleeing the war in Ukraine: Arriva Italia is grateful to the three drivers and is proud to make its own contribution to support this initiative.
