Since 2023, Arriva Italia has embarked on a sustainability reporting journey on a voluntary basis, anticipating the regulatory requirement to report on the environmental, social, and governance aspects of its activities.
In 2024, Arriva Italia took significant steps towards a stronger commitment to reporting, once again anticipating regulations through the introduction of external assurance and double materiality analysis; the latter assesses both the financial and non-financial impact of corporate activities.
In 2025, Arriva Italia chose for the first time to prepare its Sustainability Report with reference to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
This decision was made voluntarily, as Arriva Italia is not among the entities required to comply with Legislative Decree 125/2024, which transposes the CSRD Directive. Nevertheless, the company considered it important to align immediately with the most advanced European criteria, thereby ensuring information that is even clearer, more comprehensive, and easier to compare.
The adoption of the ESRS therefore represents a further step forward in Arriva Italia’s commitment to increasingly transparent and reliable reporting, for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Angelo Costa, Managing Director of Arriva Italia
“The sustainability report is only the first step in a gradual but steady journey that we will take alongside our stakeholders: a well-defined path that will lead us to measure ourselves in an increasingly transparent and tangible way.
We are convinced that sustainability can no longer be postponed, and precisely to showcase what we are already doing across all three ESG pillars, we have decided to take on this challenge. Our commitment to reporting aims to be a testament to the responsibility we feel and put into practice every day, first and foremost towards our people, then our passengers, as well as all other stakeholders with whom we interact daily: local authorities, communities, suppliers, and partners.”

Putting people first
Public transport represents the very essence of diversity, as it is a service offered indiscriminately to everyone. This is why Arriva Italia places people at the center of its strategy: both those within the company and the passengers who use the service.
To passengers, who exceeded 49.7 million in 2024, Arriva dedicates its efforts to ensuring a high-quality, modern, and efficient service, capable of providing continuous assistance thanks to constant digital innovation.
Local sustainability reports 2024
With a strong focus on people and its relationship with stakeholders, Arriva Italia highlights the facts and figures of sustainability and, in addition to the comprehensive report, produces individual reports for each geographic area where it provides services. The company’s complexity arises from operating in vast, fragmented, and diverse territories. The challenge is to showcase the resources dedicated to sustainability in each specific area.
